The holidays were a little overwhelming for the Hodges family. Meg was born just a few days before Thanksgiving so that meant lots of guests at our house. Cole's family was here all week after Meg was born and then we had a slew of guests for the next few weeks leading up to Christmas. The good thing was people were here to help when we needed it. The bad thing was people were here...no time just to ourselves anymore. Our vistors ranged from Cole's parents Margaret and Ron, my parents Lisa and Chucky, my sisters Anna and Kara, Cole's brother Ryan, Allison, all the way from Boston, Laura and baby Grace, from Memphis, and a large number of 'day guests' that wanted to see our new addition. We appreciated all of their help and especially the food some of them brought. You take all the help you can get when you have a new baby in the house. Cole and I were too busy taking shifts with Meg to worry about the small things, like dinner, laundry, and my favorite...cleaning.
Christmas was around the corner and things only got more hectic from there. I went home for a couple of days during the holidays to be with my family and Cole's family was back again. Margaret was here three times in a month. I guess Ron is just glad that she has such 'flexible' working conditions. Christmas was a brand new experience for both Cole and I. There is nothing like having a child during the holidays. We actually had Christmas 4 times in a week span. Christmas with the Powell Family Saturday night, with the Williams Family on Christmas Eve, with my family Christmas Day and back to Nashville for Christmas with the Hodges Family. I know that Meg did not really understand much of what was going on, but it makes you look forward to years of Santa. Meg got so many presents.
For New Year's we went to Wesley and Molly's cabin on the Tennessee River. There was a big crowd there in 2008. We had 4 couples, 2 dogs, 2 babies under 4 months old, and a partridge in a pear tree. Meg behaved as well as could be expected, but me and her went to bed at 11:00. Don't worry, we heard Cole and everyone else 'ring in' the new year for us. Seriously, Cole was well behaved, for him, but he is a little loud. Imagine that.
