Ok, so the pictures above really do not do it justice but the Moonlight Masquerade was breath-taking. The day began at 5am, when I woke up and so did Meg, this was early for her and Cole was going to have her all day so I was hoping she would go back to bed. So, I changed her diaper and turned back on her music and luckily she did for awhile. I left my house about 5:40, intending on stopping at the CHS sonic for a Route 44 Diet Coke, I waited until 10 after 6, but they never opened. I was highly irritated at the guy working in there, who neglected to acknowledge me as I circled the parking lot, tried booths and drive thru. But, life must go on, so I headed without caffeine to the factory.
By about 6:15 there was a full crew of parents and students hard at work. We had along day ahead of us. There was fabric, masks, and words to hand from the ceiling and walls. There were tables and chairs to cover and decorate, a set of stairs to put back together...and even trashcans to decorate. You can never have ugly trashcans! The day was fun, and involved an excursion to Sam's and Hobby Lobby for me. Then at 3:30 I decided I needed to go home and shower...but then decided to make a last minute pit stop by the mall, 20 minutes and 8 dresses later, I found the perfect dress to wear! Then I went home to shower and visit with Cole and Meg for a bit.
I headed back to school about 5:45 to help attend to last minute details of finalizing coat check, food, etc. Then before I knew it the madness began...seniors and their entire families began arriving for senior presentations along with lots of chaperones etc. About 8:15 once presentations were complete and we got all the parents to leave the fun finally began for the kids. Things went well and all were well behaved (that I know of).
Then about 11:30 as the place started to clear it was time to start cleaning up. At about 1:30ish and two trips to the school including about 10-12 truck, SUV, car loads, plus a trailer load later we were finished. There were only a few mishaps including some fabric getting thrown in the dumpster and having to be retrieved and a broken vase or 2. I just hope we can locate a few of the important things that need to be returned to people in the light of day this week. It was a very efficient process for a couple of reasons.
1) alot of people involved had been down this road before
2) there was a lot of help!! very grateful to all the parents, siblings, and other students that showed up int he middle of the night for this task.
I was in bed about 2am, and so glad to be there!
